Hudson Falls, NY- Raymond F. Closson of Hudson falls, NY died on May 24, 2011at Glens Falls Hospital after a long illness pertaining to his heart. He was 81 Born in Ballston Spa, NY on September 7, 1929, he was the son of Earl and Ethel Closson. He attended Saratoga Springs High school. In June of 1949 he married Edith Conklin at Bethesda Episcopal Church in Saratoga Springs. He worked at Knolls Atomic Plant in Schenectady, also for civil defense in Saratoga Springs and Van Raalte Co. in Saratoga Springs which he retired from in 1972. He enjoyed oil painting, playing his keyboard, going on the internet, and fishing. He was known around Saratoga Springs for his whistling. He whistled for charities such as the March of Dimes and the United Way. Besides his parents and step-father, he is predeceased by one son, Raymond M. Closson, two grandsons, one granddaughter, six brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Edith Closson of Hudson Falls, NY; two daughters, Sandra Austin of Queensbury, NY. And Carol Trackey and her husband James of Glen Falls, NY.; one son, Duane Closson and his wife Carol of Fort Anne, NY.; Ten grandchildren: Rachel Sanabria and her husband Josias of Queensbury, NY., Courtney McFadden of South Glens Falls, NY., Melissa Trackey of Glens falls, NY., Alicia Dunn of California, Haley Closson of Oregon, Renee Heller of Altamont, NY., Paul Austin of Potsdam, NY., Eric Closson of Fort Anne, NY., Justin Trackey of Queensbury, NY, and Raymond L. Closson of Costa Rica; and nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the family plot in the Barkersville Cemetery, followed by a gathering for family and friends in the community room of Earl Towers in Hudson Falls. Rev. Nancy L. Goff of the Church of the Messiah will officiate. There are no calling hours.
